Avaya Media Servers and Media Gateways are an integral component of the Avaya Converged Infrastructure. The servers and gateways provide highly flexible, scalable, and standards-based building blocks that can be mixed and matched to create customized solutions. The Avaya Media Gateways address your need for converged solutions that support both TDM and IP telephone environments by seamlessly integrating traditional circuit-switched and IP-switched interfaces. They connect to an Avaya Media Server, either directly or indirectly through other media gateways. The Avaya family of media servers support distributed IP networking and centralized call processing across multi-protocol networks. These servers are available as an integrated solution, configurable to provide the right level of redundancy and survivability for your enterprise locations, or they can operate independently. They have the ability to handle up to 420,000 busy-hour call completions. Avaya Media Servers:
Definity® Servers - Provides scalability with the ability to grow without changing an entire communication system. Avaya DEFINITY® Servers offer a scalable solution with the ability to grow without changing an entire communication system. Both IP and circuit switched calls are supported with DEFINITY® Servers. Avaya DEFINITY® Server CSI targets small to midsize customers ranging from 50-250 users. DEFINITY® Server SI targets mid to large customers ranging from 200-500 users. The DEFINITY® Server SI can reside in the Single-Carrier Cabinet (SCC) or the Multi-Carrier Cabinet (MCC). Note: Last software release supported on the DEFINITY Server SI is Communication Manager 2.2. S8300 Media Server - The S8300 Media Server resides inside a G700, G350 or G250 Media Gateway. It can be used as a standalone communication system or as a fully survivable remote gateway and will support up to 450 stations. The S8300 can be the primary controller for up to 50 remote G250, G350 and G700 Media Gateways. S8400 Media Server – The S8400 provides the midsize enterprise with a cost effective solution. It supports up to five media gateways and can be used to support multiple location enterprises. It is scalable up to 900 stations and 400 trunks (1300 ports total). It also supports co-resident software for voice Messaging, fax messaging, auto attendant and other applications. S8500B Media Server – The S8500B is a rack mounted telephony server. The S8500B runs the Linux operation system and features Communication Manager. The S8500B can support IP, SIS, and traditional endpoints. This enables new technology and eases migration from legacy Avaya systems. The S8500B Media Server is a perfect solution for midsized customers, with growth of up to 3,200 ports. S8710/S8720 Media Server – The Avaya S8710/8720 Media Servers uses a standard microprocessor engine on a commercial server. They are both very similar in architecture, components, and functionality. Both servers support Communication Manager and will support up to 36,000 stations, of which 12,000 can be IP stations, and 8,000 trunks. The main difference between the S8710 and the S8720 are:
